Simple Split Test – Email Subjects

One quick and easy split test to do (and very effective as well) is to test your email subjects. If you're emails aren't getting opened, well, they aren't getting clicks either. And if no one is clicking in them, they certainly aren't spending money with you. So, while it might seem like the copy is the best spot to start, we prefer to start with the top of the funnel – the email subject. It also happens to be the *easiest* thing to test – nice, huh?

So, here's how you do it. Take your sequence inside of the Campaign and simply duplicate it. On a Mac, you simply hold down the Control key while clicking and dragging the sequence. When you drop it, you'll get a complete clone of the original one, including all of the emails, timers, tags and anything else you have inside of the sequence. Super easy.

Now setup the split test as in the training video with the http post and API Goals and connect everything up. Next simply go through all of your emails and leave the copy alone, but change the subjects in this new sequence. Now you'll have two sequences going down two different paths, each using unique email subjects. Let a sufficient number of contacts fly through the campaign and monitor your open rates and, after enough have gone through, pick a winner! Boom.
