How To Increase Email Open Rates Without Changing Any Part Of Your Email!

Here's an easy way to increase your email open rates.  The success of an email is always measured by two factors:

  • Open Rates
  • Click-thru Rates

And while the Click-thru Rate (percentage) never changes, you can impact the sheer number of clicks you receive from your email by increasing your Open Rate.

For example, a 15% CTR from 160 opens is a lot better than a 15% CTR from 100 opens.

Obviously, Open Rates are impacted by how well you’re treating your list, and how compelling your subject line is. There is, however, one other factor dramatically affecting your Open Rates… and it has nothing to do with the content of your email!

Time of Day Sent!

If you want the best results from your emails, you have to make sure you’re sending your emails at the best time of day for your list. Every list is different, but EVERY list has a best time of day, where a higher percentage of emails are opened.

Remember… more opens = more response!

According to a MarketingSherpa survey:

  • 23.63% of all email opens occur within the first hour after delivery
  • 9.52% in the 2nd hour (more than 50% dropoff!)
  • 6.33% in the 3rd hour
  • 4.8% in the 4th hour
  • 5 hours after delivery, the results drop more than 90%

How do you figure out the best time of day for your list?

TEST!

Starting on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m., your time, send out emails at different times of day and keep track of the first-hour Open Rates.  You should also test different days of the week.

Of course, there are several different ways to divy up your list for split testing.  The easiest way, if you are a MyFusion Helper subscriber, would be to just use the Split It Helper.  Simply apply a different timer to each path created, and monitor Open Rate results in your Campaign Builder's Performance View.

After some testing, an ideal ideal window should emerge where your list's Open Rates are higher than other times of the day.

Of course, doing this doesn’t make the email message itself any better, but, as I mentioned above, the higher open rate, coupled with the same Click-thru Rate, will give you a significantly better result!
