Set It Helper

Set custom field values automatically from other fields in Infusionsoft.

Overview

The Set It Helper was created before Infusionsoft added flexibility to the Set Field Value snippet to set a field to 'today' for example. Now, many of the uses for this Helper are able to be completed directly within Infusionsoft.

However, it's still useful when running Chain It Helper to combine multiple Helpers in one.

Highlighted Features

  • Set Date/Time Value To "Now"
  • Set Any Field To Any Specific Value

Set Date/Time Value To "Now"

Easily the most requested feature of the Set It Helper is the ability to set the Date/Time value to "now," or the date value to "today."  This allows you to track exactly when a process began, useful for later calculating date ranges or when creating evergreen expiring offers.

Set Any Field To Any Specific Value

No matter which field you want to assign a specific value to, the Set It Helper gives you the freedom and power to do just that!

The Toolbar

Above is the toolbar options you'll see for the Set It Helper. Here are the Toolbar button options from left to right:

  • Copy Link for Infusionsoft - This first blue copy link button copy the URL used for the http post snippet inside of the Infusionsoft Campaign Builder.
  • Configure Button - The last button on the far right is the start configuration button which allows you to View, Edit, Copy, Delete, view the Usage Report and the Usage Log.

Hello and welcome to MyFusion Helper. In this short video I’m going to show you how to use the Set It Helper. We’re going to talk about getting it set up inside the app and then how to deploy it in Infusionsoft. Then we’ll also talk about some different use cases and scenarios for when, where and why you’d want to use it.

First, let’s do a quick live demo in the app so that you know how to set it up yourself. Here we are in the app. The first thing we do is select it, you’ll see it’s right here on the first page so we can just click on that. We’ll give it a name here “Set Up Demo.” You can call that whatever you want. I know that I just use demo names and stuff in here as I’m typing these up, but I really do highly recommend that you come up with a set of prefixes that you use. We’re expanding the interface in MyFusion Solutions and doing some beta testing on the interface so that you’ll be able to sort very quickly and easily to find these Helpers. The best way that’s going to work is if you use a common prefix so that you can easily sort and locate your Helper name just as a point of reference.

The Set It function is really designed to do a couple of things. It’s either to set some specific hard coded value into a field in Infusionsoft or to set the field to now or today. Now and today are different variations for either date and date/time. If you use now, it’s going to be for a date/time field. If you use today, it’s going to be for a date field. Those are two of the most commonly requested features, so we put those in here and put it as part of the Set It function just so that you can hard code these in. You can also set any particular text, string value or numeric value that you want as well through these. You just type in whatever you want. If I use the word “now” it’s going to know that’s a date. We’ll put in a test date that we’ve got in here and we’ll set it into there as an example. Those are really the main options.

In Infusionsoft and the Campaign Builder they recently added the ability to set a field to a value. However, they really limited what fields you could use. Right? There are only a few fields that they allow you to use. Even though the Set It feature is kind of a duplicate of the Set This field to a value feature inside of Campaign Builder, it really extends upon it pretty dramatically because there is no way to set a lot of the fields that you want to be able to utilize in the Campaign Builder. The Set It feature is still a very commonly used Helper in our system.

We can go ahead here and create the Create Helper and that will generate the Helper and generate the link that we can use to copy and paste into Infusionsoft. Here it’s coming back and we can copy that link. Then we can go in here to Infusionsoft and into our HTTP post snippet that we get from the process here. We already drug that in there and already named it, but we can just go in here now and paste in that URL. We just paste that in like that, turn it to “ready” and we’re all set. Now remember you don’t have to do anything with these name value pairs, just leave them alone the way they are to default with the contact ID. That’s all you need to do.

We talked about “how,” now let’s talk about the “why” a little bit. First of all, the setting a date/time value to now is probably one of the most commonly requested features that people ask for. They’re tracking things and they want to set a custom field to today’s date so that they can do future comparisons off of it or they’re storing the date that they signed up into a membership start date and things of that nature. They want to be able to get today’s date. Using date/time of now or using a date of today are two of the most common things that people use this for. As I said, a lot of times it has to do with memberships, programming or coaching programs where they have a certain start date that they want to be able to track.

Another thing that you can do for this is, of course, setting the value to today. We talked about that. Then a third is just setting a field to a specific value. You are really just overriding some of the features that are missing in Infusionsoft in terms of other fields that you want to be able to specifically override that the set a field to value doesn’t let you do. Those are really the most commonly used examples for this particular Helper. I hope that gives you some ideas and puts somethings in place for you in your future campaigns that you’re working on.
