My Google Sheets Data Is In The Wrong Order!

WHY ARE MY GOOGLE SHEET RESULTS NOT IN THE SAME ORDER AS INFUSIONSOFT'S SAVED SEARCH?!

Ok, so you might have come across this a couple of times, so let's clarify how you can customize your Google Sheets Results to your liking!

We do not get the order of the saved search columns through the API but only the fields available and the contacts in the data. This is a known issue with the API but it actually is a good thing. When you create a report or chart in Google Sheets, it goes off of the column ID (A, B, C, etc).

This means that when you give someone the ability to adjust the column position in Infusionsoft, this would impact and break any reporting that you had within Google Sheets. The API does, however, consistently return system variables first, and then custom fields next, so you are almost always covered.

I know it seems kinda backwards, but it actually works quite well this way. If you wanted to “Pull a View” what you can also do is to then use Google Sheet's IMPORT RANGE function to import the columns that you want into a separate panel on the same global spreadsheet. This would allow you to layout different views as well…. but it is all pulling from one unique data source ‍ The really awesome part is that import ranges can then go across Spreadsheets to other individual spreadsheets for other users‍ .

Doing it the way above, you also can cut down on your saved searches in Infusionsoft as most of them are very similar but are just showing different columns.

That's a couple of different ways you can do it – we'll let you figure other ways of customizing it by yourself!
